Protecting clients, protecting the environment

PRIZMA, an MFI in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is committed to both financial sustainability and social performance.

PRIZMA has been striving to become a socially responsible organisation – committed to its clients, staff, and the broader environment. To this end, it has adopted a ‘pro-consumer’ pledge that outlines its vision and mission. The pledge, which is displayed in every office, also sets out the level of service that clients should expect from staff. Among its key commitments are:

  • standard timelines for loan processing
  • convenient loan disbursement processes
  • staff dress code to ensure that clients feel comfortable
  • transparent loan pricing policy
  • strategy to protect against client over-indebtedness
  • client complaint procedures.

PRIZMA is also committed to serving clients from different backgrounds. It employs staff from all ethnic groups, and invests in its staff through training and incentives linked to social performance. Staff benefits include support for health and other emergencies.

Finally, the organisation is strongly committed to protecting the environment, and does not finance businesses whose activities may have a negative impact on the environment. All applications for business and agricultural loans include assessment of the proposed activities for any negative impact on air, water, soil, nature, and other aspects of the rural environment. A negative score on any of these dimensions disqualifies the loan application.
