Freedom from Hunger

Freedom from Hunger’s mission is to bring innovative and sustainable self-help solutions to the fight against chronic hunger and poverty.

Through its microfinance work, it provides training for MFIs and non-government organisations (NGOs) to develop integrated financial services for the very poor. Freedom from Hunger played a lead role in developing the Imp-Act SPM training materials, and the organisation currently provides mentoring to several MFIs who are developing SPM systems. Through ongoing research on the impact of savings and integrated health services, Freedom from Hunger has identified simple and cost-effective indicators that MFIs can use to assess progress toward their social objectives. From this, they developed a series of mini-surveys that use a low-cost sampling methodology, which can be used as an MFI management tool. Freedom from Hunger supports more than 240 partners across Africa, Latin America, and India.
