Learning to improve practice

To improve practice, we learn from practice.
The Consortium's strong learning agenda allows us to capture SPM experience from MFIs worldwide, analyse lessons learnt and and share these across the industry. We do this through:
The SPM Network
The SPM Network is the place where the latest ideas in SPM are shared and debated. Connecting more than 1,500 individuals committed to managing and achieving the social mission of microfinance, the Network features discussion boards, events listings, videos and more.
Social Performance Management Resource Centre
The SPM Resource Centre offers step-by-step online guidance on how to integrate a social lens into MFI performance management systems. You can start by taking an SPM self-assessment quiz, which will give you targeted guidance based on your answers. The site also includes targeted resources and guidance for networks, support organisations and funders.
Annual Learning Meetings
Imp-Act Annual Learning Meetings provide a forum to work on specific technical challenges, and identify technical and strategic gaps in terms of moving the SPM agenda forward. The meetings bring together Consortium members and other active SPM implementers, representing a broad range of stakeholders, including MFIs, networks, support organisations, and funders.
SPM State of Practice reports
These periodic reports set out the state of practice and flag future challenges for effective SPM for practitioners, donors and networks.
Action research
Learning from practice is fundamental to Imp-Act’s work. We undertake action research with MFIs across the industry to document good practice and share lessons learned. Our most recent project was the Global Learning Programme, which involved seven MFIs across the world.
Publications
Drawing together the lessons learnt from its work across the industry, the Consortium has developed a library of practical resources for a variety of audiences, designed to support SPM integration.
