Integrating SPM into mainstream capacity building
This project was designed to promote SPM by increasing MFIs’ exposure to the concept and practice of SPM through the training, capacity building, mentoring and technical assistance they routinely receive from external organisations.
Through this initiative, Imp-Act members engage with experts from specific management areas to develop a series of Guidance Notes on how to integrate SPM into key areas of performance management such as governance, and internal controls and audit.

The SPM Resource Centre
The SPM Resource Centre offers step-by-step online guidance on how to integrate a social lens into MFI performance management systems. You can start by taking an SPM self-assessment quiz, which will guide you through the site's content based on your answers. The site also includes targeted resources and guidance for networks, support organisations and funders.
The starting point for this project was the 2008 launch of the hard-copy SPM Practice Guide, which draws on experience from over 45 MFIs worldwide. Since then, we have added new case studies, resources, and templates for MFIs to download, adapt and use for their own SPM work.

Past initiatives
Global Learning Programme (2007–2009)
This programme involved seven MFIs committed to achieving balanced performance management – making decisions that would enable them to fulfil their social and financial goals. The programme examined key aspects of SPM, as well as how to improve the effectiveness and the cost-effectiveness of balanced performance management. It resulted in a series of case studies on each organisation, which you can find here.
